Because it's not really correct. The Friends do collect donations
towards the Park, but not for day to day running costs, which is where
the 75K shortfall lies. The Friends use their pot of money for capital
schemes which the Park wouldn't otherwise do, like the millennium clock
or the sensory garden. The Friends are loath to spend money on the Park
at the moment as what is the point of starting capital schemes if the
Park will be shut in seven months?
However the whole issue of giving a channel for people who want to help
financially is something which we're giving a lot of thought to at the
moment and we hope to have something to say early next week. Can you
hold on to your cash until then?
