Interestingly, my other half did report the Pong yesterday evening when he
was at home and I wasn't - I've just had this email from him:
"Two men in a van from Anglia Water just knocked on the door and said they
had come to investigate the problem I reported! They seemed a bit
confused when I said that it was due to the smell from the sewage works.
It seems that their system causes a callout when a problem is reported.
Quite amusing."
Has anyone else had AW calling on them?
First time I investigated how to report the pong was almost three years
ago, just after the Jane Coston Bridge opened, when I DID throw up while
cycling back to Waterbeach over the lovely new bridge.
I'm not convinced it's just the wind direction - there's been plenty of
wind over the last six months that's been exactly that direction against
me as I've struggled along the Long Reach - I think they've got A Problem.
We noted a bit of a pong on Saturday at Tesco, which we'd not for ages.
And it's just got worse since then.
I suppose we should be grateful that whatever's wrong isn't also leading
to an outflow of untreated sewage into the Cam, unlike that which the poor
citizens of Leith, and their wildlife, have had to put up with.
