[milton-chat] Postcode misery continues...

I thought this had subsided, but I've had a real problem buying something
online over the past couple of days... :-(
I've used dabs.com for computer stuff for years, and have always found them
to be really good, however I made the mistake of updating my address in
their records with the new postcode and the house number (which Royal Mail
are now insisting upon). This means that the cardholder address on my credit
card (which has not yet caught up with the postcode change) now differs from
the address in dabs.com's records. This has meant (so far) a 22 hour delay
while they work it out as a 'security check'. I'm now rapidly entering the
Meldrew Zone, and it's not even my fault. (Well perhaps I shouldn't have
updated my address, but I thought I was dong the Right Thing.)
Other online stores don't seem to have a problem with this, but it probably
means their security is a bit suspect. However, if you are buying online,
make sure your addresses line up, or you could end up with a long, annoying,
wait. I've now contacted my credit card company to change the address myself
rather than wait for the databases to mate, or whatever it is they do.

<feeling slightly better for getting it off my chest mode=active>
Have a good day,
David.
