[hisimp] Histon & Impington Update

Summer is here at last - and I've taken the opportunity to add a photo
of cricketers at the Rec to the front page of the site. We've got a
great facility at the Rec - and its good to see it being enjoyed!
We are under a lot of threats at the moment - demolition of the
station, real threats to our local shops and businesses from road
closures arising from the Guided Bus works, and potential loss of the
"Dual Use" grant (from South Cambs) to improve sporting facilities at
   IVC.
Petitions on these latter two are circulating, and if you've not
already signed up to the paper forms, please take a moment to go to the
site ([1]www.hisimp.net) and sign up to the on-line versions.
We've now closed the Save Our Station petition - we had over 450 online
signatures, and the petition had the key impact of getting the County
Council to give us time to explore other options, and how we might both
save the building, and put it and the area about it to productive use
and make it a real asset for the community. Financial and time
pressures on the Guided Busway works don't give us much of a chance,
but County and Impington Parish Councillors are working hard to find a
   solution.
We have, however, got a solution in place to save the gatekeeper's hut.
We haven't got a new location for it yet, but it will be dismantled in
the next few days and safely stored so that it can be rebuilt next
year. Volunteers are going to dismantle it (if you can help, please get
in touch with Pene Nudds) - but putting it back up again will cost - if
you can suggest any ways to help with this, please do get in touch.
   Regards
   Denis
