[hisimp-chat] Centenary Tree Planting Event

Hi,
I've just heard that an estimated 300-400 people turned up last Saturday
to help plant the new community woodland off Gatehouse Road/Park
Lane. Weren't we lucky with the weather!

Between us all (yes I was there, despite the suggestion that I was skiving
elsewhere!) almost 3000 broad-leaved trees and shrubs were planted, caned
and guarded. That's made a big dent in the overall number, leaving the
remaining 5000+ trees planned for the contractor to plant; this should be
finished in the next day or so.
