How naive is the operations manager of Stagecoach? Of course everybody wants a chauffer-driven car from their front door to the shop of their choice. The whole point of public transport is to follow Benthamite utilitarian principles of the greatest good for the most people and the least harm to the fewest people. If that means delaying your arrival in town by five minutes so that an extra ten people have the opportunity to use the bus, that seems to me to be a reasonable price to pay. I am not sure that I would be too comfortable with the thought that my five minutes saved was at the cost of somebody being isolated because they were too far from a bus route that had been revised purely for my benefit because I was a member of a vocal minority group whose wishes happened to coincide with the convenience of the bus company. Is there no social responsibility to factor in to the equation?

All - and again apologies for duplicate mails.
The saga of the Citi 7 is ongoing. The local message is that this is a disaster, there'll be people housebound as a result; students at Camtrust won't be able to get there, or back home; students won't be able to college; people won't be able to get to the library or Post Office - but its not the message that's getting through to the County Council, or probably Stagecoach. They're getting the message that this is actually a good idea!
We've also had this from the Operations Manager, Andy Mears, of Stagecoach:
”We have had many customers over a long period of time approach us here at Stagecoach and request a more direct and faster route in and out of the City. A vast number of residents in the area have bought to our attention of their dissatisfaction to the circuitous route on Station Road and Cambridge Road hence the changes to the service in the area.”
So, please follow up the contacts on http://www.hisimp.net/opus1694.html, phone the County Contact Centre on 08450450675 and make your voice heard.
And for those hoping to get on the Guided Bus to go to Aldi or anywhere else on Histon Road - note that the first stop after Orchard Park will be Shire Hall - it may be a bus, but it's not a stopping bus!!
